Medaive has made a huge investment of $360,000 for the access open minds program in New Brunswick. The Access Open Minds program aims at helping the young people with mental illness.
Mental health issues among young adults in the country are increasing. The hospitalization rate due to these issues among the youth in New Brunswick is more than the country average.
The President of the University of Moncton Association, Tristian Gaudet is of opinion that the deadlines in studies and maintaining the balance with family and friends all create pressure among the youth.
The donation from Medaive will be used to provide support to the students dealing with mental health problems and homelessness.
Bernard Lord, the CEO of Medavie, said that they want to invest in the life of young people early as this will have the right impact on their life for a long time. This will allow the youth to cope with the issues with much confidence.
The donation money will be used to fund research and evaluation program with Dr. Jimmy Borque as the leader. The program will change the way the young people between the age group of 11 to 25 will access mental health assistance in the country.
According to Borque, the project is really promising for the youth.
