Toppers Smoked Salmon Flakes Faces Recall Threat Due To Listeria Contamination

The Toppers Smoked Salmon Flakes from True North Seafood Company is facing the threat of a national recall due to possible contamination from Listeria mono-cytogenes. This applies to the product code 7838 that comes in the 113-gram pack and having expiry dates before Nov 17 of this year. The UPC of the product is 0 60719 72255 6.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency test results on the product triggered this recall and the authorities have mentioned that the product may be nationally available. However, there are no reports of any illness caused due to the consumption of these products.

According to the reports submitted by the agency, some of the food contamination symptoms associated with Listeria may include nausea, vomiting, headache along with muscle ache and high fever. Elderly people with weak immune system and pregnant women are at higher risk of getting infected.

However, pregnant women may experience mild symptoms and may not take the issue seriously. In extreme cases, it may also lead to infection of the newborn and lead to premature delivery. It can also cause serious illness and prove to be fatal in extreme cases.
