Sundar Pichai invited to White House for high level meeting

OMAHA, NE – 12-06-2018 ( — Google’s CEO and IIT-Kharagpur alumnus, Sundar Pichai was called upon to take part in an upcoming tech roundtable by the Trump Administration. The roundtable is slated to include top tech executives from Microsoft, Google, Oracle and Qualcomm. The Chief Executive of Blackstone Group LP and the president of Carnegie Mellon are also expected to join in the discussion. The session is expected to focus on ways U.S. leadership can add to the overall transformation of industries of the future, the growing importance of AI (artificial intelligence), 5G wireless communications, and quantum computing. There will also likely be a discussion into recent Trump administration policies, including tariffs and immigration that have influenced the tech industry. 

Mr Pichai’s trip to Washington, D.C. will also include testimony before the House Judiciary committee. The hearing is presumed to cover topics related to the handling of data privacy, the potential use of political bias through Google’s platform, and the exploration of a censored search engine for its users in China. Pichai took the reins of Google in August of 2015 and continues to be instrumental in the success that Google has experienced.  About IIT-KharagpurPichai received his B.Tech in Metallurgy (1993) from the Indian Institute of Technology-Kharagpur. The Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IITKGP) is a public engineering institution established by the government of India in 1951.
